The Church of St. John Jacob of Neamt-the Hozevit

At the initiative and with the benediction of the Holy Father Dr. Daniel , The Metropolite of Moldavia and Bucovina, it was initiated the building of the Church of St. John Jacob of Neamt, the Hozevit. The construction of this Church points to a double purpose: as a paraclis for our Seminary for the daily services from the liturgical program of the pupils and for the bringing of the holy relics of St. John Jacob of Neamt, the Hozevit.
The discussion for bringing the Holy relics are opened at high level between the Patriarchates of Romania and Jerusalem but also with the implication of Romanian diplomatic officialities.
The possibility that this desire of Romanian Orthodox believers of everywhere be accomplished, that is, St. John Jacob come home in full body, is now closer to its fulfillment after the visit and meetings from Jerusalem occasioned by the celebration of the 2000 years from the Nativity of Our Lord. The home prepared for the reception of St. John wants to be as beautiful and loving as the soul of all Romanians. We consider the bringing at home of the saint relics of St. John to be a great benediction for the entire Romanian people.
The Church St. John of Neamt - the Hozevit is painted in the style of Byzantine frescoes by professor Vasile Buzuloiu and his disciples. We had chosen this kind of painting because it is somptuous by itself from both points of view: of the aspect and of the technic.
Besides its character of monumentality, the frescoe is also special by its simplicity (forms, colours). It illustrated the essential characteristics by clear lines easy to be understood even from the first sight.
The Liturgical program served in the underground (reserved for the young seminarists) is a rich one. Every day it is served the following prayers: Morning and evening prayer, The Acathist, The Vespers and the Vigils. On Sunday, Monday, Wendsday and Friday it is officiated also the Holy Liturgyas like in the other Orthodox Churches and Monasteries.
It is a good reason of joy that the Church is so often visited by Romanian tourists and foreigners so that it becomes a place of pilgrimage. There are many people who participate to the divine services which are officiated in our Church. St. John Jacob is a point of attraction for the people to come and bow in the Church and help it by their support to continue the work of building. We mention again that in the underground of the Church, in the paraclisis, there are the relics of the saint: the finger, the headcover and the praying metanias. For the Prayers of St. John Jacob, Lord Jesus Christ have mercy on us!
